ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build strong positive relationships with diverse groups through day-to-day reliability plant support with a continuous focus on safe, reliable and efficient operations. Act as single point contact and providing technical direction
  • Provide technical leadership, expertise, and advice in support of facility operations with the goal of optimizing facility reliability through the application of Preventative Maintenance Programs
  • Recommend maintenance/operating technologies and methodologies that improve reliability
  • Work with primary teams to identify, evaluate and implement design changes, asset strategies revisions and operating/maintenance procedure updates, while monitoring technical knowledge
  •  Promote a proactive approach to minimize/eliminate failures by acquiring and analyzing failure data and predicting asset reliability with a goal to reduce maintenance related production losses
  • Lead efforts for plant loss mapping based on value stream mapping (details individual equipment processing rates and constraints)
  • Evaluate the performance reports as part of asset management and monitor the main indicators of maintenance and reliability.
  • Work with team to analyze loss data to identify underperforming assets
  • Develop Equipment Strategy plans with the purpose of growing reliability and availability
  • Provide technical guidance and support for new equipment commissioning
  • Lead the development of technical standards database and champion the use of those standards as part of precision maintenance being executed by plant maintenance teams
  •  Build and publish weekly and monthly reports commenting on the overall trends and progress of the asset activities
  • Ensure compliance to internal and external policies, procedures and regulations and to assist external auditors such as insurance companies, and / or other groups as required.
  •  Responsible for repository of equipment life cycle cost data from design for reliability phase through decommissioning
  • Ensure that all equipment operates efficiently.  Diagnose and correct production or processes that are not operating efficiently.
  • Responsible for Preventative Maintenance Program strategy
  • Utilize SMED techniques to reduce changeover time.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to ensure high levels of uptime.
  • Ensure that mechanics are properly trained and utilized.  Manage mechanic staff across multiple shifts.
  • Drive transformation initiatives to support the overall department goals of safety, quality and cost.
  • Develop and maintain an effective, high morale, highly engaged work force.
  • Expand the application of total employee involvement processes including work redesign, empowerment, and quality and productivity improvement teams.
  • Pursue employee development through training, empowerment, and recognition utilizing the Performance Management Process
  • Works with team to set goals, objectives and KPIs in accordance with the organization's goals.
  • Responsible for management of hourly Associates including hiring, training, coaching and development, recognition, progressive discipline up to and including termination.
  • Communicates frequently and timely required information to all hourly Associates in an effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required - Mechanical, Electrical preferred
  • Experienced in driving technical strategy to drive consistent equipment performance
  • Background in utilizing systematic approach or process improvement methodology (LSS,TPM, Kaizen)
  • Experience in leading a technical team and others accountable to goals and metrics
  • SMED experience a plus.
  • Must possess solid supervisory skills to manage mechanics and trades across two shifts.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lead/influence hourly teams in the development and implementation of business objectives.
  • Must be able to make immediate decisions with limited information and rapid assimilation of facts.
  • Experienced in driving technical strategy to drive consistent equipment performance
  • Background in utilizing systematic approach or process improvement methodology (LSS,TPM, Kaizen)
